I have an ACC 120 stretch town car 1999, the rope light and mood lighting go on when the door is open and do not work at all when closed the circuit seems to jump around either this problem or it stays on continuously. any suggestions??

You guys are awesome thanks for the response and input. The problem turned out to be the dimmer module in the relay board. By the way anyone know where i can get one?? That is the only common denomenator for all those circuits. it controls the gronds for the whole car. PS I now have an electrical schematic for the car 1998-2000 ACC town car any one need one send your fax number and ill send it . its 24 pgs and did the trick

Hmmmmm Interesting....are you sure you have the right grounds hooked up, the board handles grounds differently than the car does.
I wonder if it is possible that the ground that you have hooked up to the lights now is actually a ground to something else? |

Depending on how it is wired ( seems strange to me ) when you rewired the connections to the ropelite you may have wired them to the wrong side, try switching the wires around and see what happens ( could be that they are wired in series or parallel ) let us know how you go on.

no recent changes, when the door ajar light is on only when door is open, and yes lights are running off of master, however original problem the rope light went out. I found that the end was burnt and melted so i trimmed it and made a good connection and it came back on when the rope went out the neon lights came on all the time even when master was off. when ropes came back on they also stayed on all the time. these two things are controled by the same dimmer switch. Then for no reason all the lights went out. at that time i found when i opened the rear doors all the lights came back on. I am baffeled on this one any suggestions would be welcome

Is this something that just came up or did you recently make any changes?
Is the door ajar light on in the I/P at times? I assume you are running the lights off the master board? |
