My automatic trunk latch was unplugged when i bought it and dumb enough I plugged it up.
Now the latch is in the up position and will not go down. Any Ideas on how to get it down so the trunk will close tight. |

no need to take it apart. There should be 2 wires.1 is ground 1 is power. If the electic motor still works you can run the latch down by jumping power to 1 of the wires. If the lach gose up when you do this put the power wire on the other wire and it will go down.If the motor is junk then Digger is right.

Sometimes you can adjust the latch by removing the trunk matting and spinning the latch down, otherwise you will have to take the pull-down unit apart and do it manually that way. There is a small gear motor in there that goes bad but it's pretty easy to adjust it back down by hand.
I wouldn't bother replacing the unit, just adjust it down and call it done. In 1998 they did away with the electric pull-down system because of so many problems. |
