Has anyone on here seen or have stretch window's that roll down? I would like to see a drawing/picture if possible? I'm drawing plans now for a 120" passenger/bar side that would include two partition frames/motors, one for each stretch window to open/lower window, frame would be cut/extended at bottom to fit window, steel piller beams in limo welded to partition frame, window opening would have sheet metal welded/formed using curves at corners around original window opening, sheet metal welded/formed using curves at corners to partition frame including weatherstrip, window opening would have a few inches going inward when complete.
So with that being said, would it work? Any ideas? A true leader seeks the leader in others |

I totally agree. I've been pulled over 3 times for girls standing through my sunroof(divider up). The last thing I want is a big open windo for drunks to climb in and out of and scuffing up the bar trying to lean out. Last saturday on a wine tour, my birthday girl forced open my moonroof(manual pop up "emergency exit"). Being tempered glass, it blew up in her face. When I jumped back to help her, I found her bleeding on her face, shoulders, arms, thighs, calve, and feet. There were small shards of glass all over her body and she couldn't safely move until I wiped all the glass off with a wet paper towel. This happened at the end of the job, 2 hours before a huge prom. Luckily the bleeding looked worse than it was(pin hole wounds). I decided not to ask my client to pay for the damage, but she called me up later and insisted to pay for the damage. I made it to my prom with a clean limo and 10 minutes to spare. Nobody complained about the missing moonroof. Yeah, I'm against giving drunks something else to mess with. Tough times don't last. Tough people do. |

Thank's to everyone. Yes, but having something different is the sizzle in this biz. I think that's why the coachbuilder added it to the hummer listed on link below. I can see the safety issue, especially coming off an exit of a freeway going on a right-hand turn. All it would take is that loose cannon, you know the one showing off a dance move to other's!! But what about pulling up to the ole' fashioned ALL AMERICAN Drive-Inn Movie? Or after a baseball game, there would be less for the passing by drunk's to touch/grab onto. But again, some would say we're the idiot's cutting/extending a car/suv that was engineered/designed both structurally and mechanically to be just a car/suv. Truck's are engineered/designed to be truck's. Limo's, well, we're left coming here for reasonable/logical solution's on what to do after the coachbuilder's mess. And to be honest, I think most coachbuilder's forget that we do load these limo's to the max on weight with passenger's/luggage, seem's they build them and test them empty!! On that note, does anyone know if a coachbuilder ever did a recall, you know, taking fault that wiring was too tight, piching, causing fire/accident/perhap's even death?

I'm with the guys who are worried about drunks and other assorted idiots going out that great big, easy to access window, not to mention what the idiots on the street might toss in.
Can you imagine driving through Georgetown in DC or any major party area with crowded streets? I can just see the kids trying to jump into the car. It is like a $150.000 rolling “Whack a Mole” game for the passer-bys. |

This chauffeur told me about a trip he heard about up in Alaska in a bus, where the jackasses had opened the side emergency hatch/window for extra air, and when the driver took a steep turn on the highway, some drunk customer who was reaching down for a beer stumbled sideways and right out the window he went. How long would it take for some drunk moron to be lying down on top of the bar waving his arm out the window to be ejected when the driver takes a turn? lol

One of my biggest nightmares is a moonroof (because with the divider up you cannot see if people are standing up in the car etc...). At least with this one, if someone was hanging out of it, you could see them in your side mirror. Also, I would be concerned about water leaks and of course the huge whirlwind that would be created when you roll the window down. Jim Martin Night Out Limousine Hollister, CA |

With everything you all have to worry about, is a window large enough to pass a human body through all that great?
It probably would be annoying for most of the passengers, just like riding in the back of a car while the front window is rolled down, windy and loud. I think that looks pretty cool. In addition how many times have we drove kids B-days when all the kids in the limo try to be seen through the two door windows because they are the only ones that roll down. It would also be cool on wine tours. I do see a problem perhaps if they hang out to far or belongings fly out of the car. And what a pain in the ass to fix that power motor or regulator when it breaks. And you know it will.

OK, found it. Right here on limoforsale.com.
It wasn't really obvious until I saw this picture and was wondering why they hadn't put in the side glass, then I re-read the text and figured it out. Here is the link: http://www.limoforsale.com/adDetail.aspx?aid=56971 Jim Martin Night Out Limousine Hollister, CA ![]() |

Yes. I just saw this recently, I don't remember where, but I'll do some looking. I believe it was a Hummer Stretch and the side window did in fact roll down behind the bar.
It left the occupants kind of 'exposed' in my opinion. I can't think of a logical use for such an option. When I find it, I'll post it here. Jim Martin Night Out Limousine Hollister, CA |
