Just to let evryone know the TLPA and NLA have agreed on the federal bill for interstate travel, the BCAC already agreed with TLPA. So it looks like they go in a uniform force. Now I am justing waiting to see the final draft.
Props to the leaders for getting together.

I joined the taxi cab assoc. I now no the best places to buy used police cars and taxi meters and medalions. to me it was a great waste of money for a limo company, name change or no name change they are a taxi cab organization. I am not sayiny a bad one, they just are geared towards taxis and i am not interested in the taxi business.my recommendation is stay with the Limousine specialist and leave the taxis to the taxi folks

But I don't want to be the one that stirrs the sauce this time.
Or you can look at it this way, maybe NLA members will start getting good information. Oh Yeaaa

I have only been a member of the TPLA for a few weeks and can say that I have gotten more useful information from the TPLA member mailings than I ever received from the NLA. They seem to be on top of the federal issues concerning our business. I would much rather see our national associations fighting future federal laws that restrict and hinder our business prosperity than spend money and resourses perpetually fighting the gas guzzler tax.

So did the NLA respond to your inquiry? Or only the TLPA? Just curious if the NLA inquiries are still ending up in never-never land....

My experience with the T.L.P.A and in particular Hal Morgan, is an exceptional example of what I believe to be a first class back up to anyone in the industry.
We are based in the U.K and we asked for information from coachbuilders,manufacturers and N.L.A included and nobody could give me the kind of support the T.L.P.A has.
A worthy organisation and we look forward to its continued service

Hope everybody has read the TLPA newsletter that just was sent to the members. Very informative on whats going on federal issues.
Nothing from the NLA.
If your not a member you should join and you will see real news and information..
NLA still has to many problems for us to wait.
Join the TLPA and it will be a great association for limo companies.

I understand what you are saying and you could be right, I just happen to answer Scott in the other forum as to why people are leaving and going to the TLPA. The agenda is not really hidden as many of my guys just want some kind of organization that is somewhat truthfull, and they have gotten this from the TLPA. My point being with the NLA I am not sure there is enough straight shooters to help guys like Ron, Dave and Scott (if elected) to make a difference and overule the rest. We have been fighting this thing for months and everyone is getting tired and you know what happens then, they just walk away and leave it for a few. I can already see where David and Ron have not been on alot lately and maybe they are starting to feel the same way. Other members first reaction to George Jacobs was, oh another Carey person. They also feel the NLA's agenda is for only Carey or the people in the northeast, just like most feel the whole motive behind HR 1689 was the NY NJ problem. Did you ever pay attention to the make up of the board as far as how many are from NJ and Carey, + George now.
THis is why many do not answer or question in this forum also, the NLA agenda is to obious for them. Then they see guys like Scott, Joe and Alan are or have been hasseled to keep off the board how do you think they should or do feel. Just my observence of a general opinion.

I don't think TLPA membership is mutually exclusive with a purely-limousine association. The TLPA doesn't offer what NLA or NALA should offer, nor is it likely it will. We belong to TLPA, but it is not a substitute for a good limousine-only trade association, rather it is complimentary. Let TLPA carry the lobbying load since they are better at it and have more clout. Our limo association can thus emphasize other things.
I don't think it helps the discussion to keep extolling the virtues of TLPA because it looks like TLPA members have an agenda, which isn't true. So why keep mentioning it

Jim they might not yet be into this forum but they are a friendly and smart organization, the newsletters you get are extremely informational and truthfull. If the NLA flops a bigger limo section would give us an outstanding voice.

This is the peril of being a netizen to the exclusion of all other news sources. The name change was approved at the October show and has been carried in Black Car News (November, 2000), LCT, LimoDigest and just about every other print media outlet. Obviously, web sites are not of great interest to TLPA.
