Just in case everyone hasn't got the word yet, there is a NASCAR event the same weekend as the LCT show in Vegas this March. Book your airfare and hotel now, if you haven't already! Hotels are booking up already and rates are going pretty high. The Venetian is already booked - LCT show members rate there was $210. Similar hotels on the strip are mostly $250-$350 per night.

Here are a couple of nearby hotels (some walking, some taxi distance) that offer more moderate pricing and still have some availability. Don't expect them to be posh 5 star hotels though:

Best Western Mardi Gras Inn: $126/night on orbitz.com

Extended Stay America: $109/night on cheaptickets.com (a little farther away than the one above)

Tuscany Suites: $156/night http://www.tuscanylasvegas.com/

See you in Vegas!

You can always stay off the beaten path and save major bucks in Henderson or Jean, Nevada etc. And the deals are still there in-town if you look carefully.

I just came back from Vegas during the holidays and it seems that the Monorail is not working. From what I heard from the local people (taxi drivers) is that it's been down for quite some time. The tend to open it for a day then something breaks and they shut it down for a few weeks. Hopefully it's up when we go there. cheers

And dont forget about the monorail if you stay on the other side of the strip near the MGM Grand or Luxor, stations are right next to the Venetian at the IP & Harrahs.
