Hey guys - Based on feedback, we're exploring updating the Limos.com geography tools to enhance accuracy. However, we also seeing differing methods. For example, some operators rely on zip codes to define their service areas or zones, while others use city names.

Services operating in areas of small population, like ours, can have zip codes that cover a lot of territory. We have to clarify with prospects exactly where they need to be picked up by address or neighborhood because a zip code or city name covers such a large geographic area. We have had calls for Billings, Montana (450 miles away) asking if we can pick some one up in a few hours. Each operating area has its opportunities and challenges and I don't know that choosing one method over another will work any better than the current system. However, better specifying locations should help everyone.

Yeah, zipcodes would make it easier to give an accurate quote. San Diego "county" is pretty large and some people don't understand that fallbrook, jamul, ramona, etc... cost more money. Tough times don't last. Tough people do. |

The Metropolitan Statistical Area ( MSA ) has set rates. Anything out of the MSA is hourly service with a three hour minimum.

Our service operates in Houston, which is probably 600 square miles just within the city limits. It would take at least one hour to go from the most northern part of the city to the most southern part of the city. We mainly use a zip codes to determined rates for airport transfers, cruise transfers and when travel time is applied to a trip. However, our office staff is also accustom to give quotes based on the geographic areas of Houston - Downtown, Uptown/Galleria area, Medical Center, Midtown, the Energy Corridor, Greenway Plaza, Westchase, and Greenspoint.
But I have also become accustomed from Limos.com leads (in reality from any email lead service), where the quote requestor does not know exactly where they are located. They would ask for a quote from Houston, and when they follow up, they are actually located in a distant suburb of the city. I personally prefer that zip codes be requested, it would remove any headaches. |
