OK,,Here is a great one. I have 10 kids going to a school end of year function. I pull up and observe a local driver(that only advertises by word of mouth) standing by the rear door and kids are going in one door and going out the other side. My riders ask when they can pull up and get out at the red carpet. I exit my Escalade and ask this guy when will he pull up?? He says he was told to stay there. Bottom line he was paid to bring a load of kids and then stay there so all the kids in the class could get a picture getting out of a limo(since all kids cannot afford one). Best of all he was not paid to park there(so he said). I asked the lady in charge if he could pull up or loop around so my riders could get out at the carpet for pictures,,since the parents did pay for their limo ride. She refused to have him move. Now schools will try this in the future and some dumb ass will do it without thinking.I have called all the other companies here and they are pissed off at this guy(he does not own the limo)and he will be black balled. The owner is getting ready to sell the vehicle so now I'm laffing my ass off since this guy will get no jobs here now.

Steve - well, there is no auction. From what I heard, I know its all about who you know in what places.
Regarding a lawsuit, well, if you even try to sue them they will of course know who it will be, they threatened to revoke company's license and trust me - they work with Customers Affairs Office. So even if you win the case, customer affairs will be on your ass everyday. I have heard personally when the main commissioner threatened the company that they will arrest the driver and revoke their license when they bring their own replacement car with permits. Too bad I wasnt recording it. |

Green do they open up who can be those two state approved companies for competative bids each year? While it would suck to be on the losing end (towed) of that deal it sounds like it would be a good business to be in. If the companies do not have the right permits and get towed I really do not have much sympathy for them. > THEY DONT LET you use another car > from your fleet to finish a job. Why would they? If the first one was not legal why would the other one be? |

I got a good one.
Authorities in NY are CORRUPTED. We have 2 companies (A and B) here in NY that work with local authorities. They are a SHAME of the limousine business. When authority tows a car from a PROM for not having right permits, they dont allow same company to pickup the kids to finish the prom. Instead they CALL they own limo company (company A or B) to finish the job and you have nothing to say. And no matter if they tow a lincoln or an SUV or a bus, they will send you whatever company A or B has sitting in the lot and they make you pay to that company for finishing a job. If the job is a 6 pass lincoln job, lincoln gets towed and if company A or B has only a BUS sitting in the lot - they will send a bus to pickup those 6 kids. And you have to pay the company $4000-5000 to finish the job even if you are making $800 on the prom. THEY DONT LET you use another car from your fleet to finish a job. Once the tow the car, they charge you towing fee, summons, and price of the company A or B limo. Once you pay that other company for the job - that is when they will realease your car. What is really bad that the authorities are sooo corrupted that they work with only 2 companies and they make a COMMISSION off each towed car. They make you take their own car, you have to pay for their car, you have to pay for tickets and towing. Authorities in NY are CORRUPTED. Last year I heard one of the TLC cops say: "Dont give him back the car - we will not make any commission today" Its Unreal !!!! I heard of cops being corrupted but now state authorities as well. And let me tell you, everybody here knows about company A and B they they are PISSED off. |

You mean the school didn't provide a beautiful 'stand-in' date for those that didn't have one or couldn't afford one? You know, not everyone can date the head cheerleader, so it only stands to reason that the school should provide your choice of Blonde or Brunette for pictures etc... And so as not to be seen as sexist, they should also provide a 'stand-in' jock for the girls (or the boys at some schools). Jim Martin Night Out Limousine Hollister, CA |

Hello J,,I did not "beep" my horn. I got out and asked him when he was going to pull up or move,,he said he was told to stay there. If he had pulled around in a loop there would not have been anything said. This guy is known to attend wedding shows(in his tux) and park his limo (next to the people who paid and support the wedding association) and was seen handing out his business card to brides. We paid to have tables and advertise,,he did not. Now to the price of limos for a prom,,,,Mine will hold 14 people,,,,at my rate that is $40 bucks per kid. That is not much to pick up kids,,let them get pictures,,take them to dinner, then prom and them home. A tux rental or dinner will cost more than that. Another point,,if I cannot afford to eat at a 5 star restaurant do you think it would be ok to bring in some MacD's and set down and eat??You cannot even bring outside food in the movies! There are other backgrounds the photographer can use,,we did a big wicker type chair with big ferns behind it. BTW the photographer got paid for taking pics. My car does not have a big Red Cross on the side.

Thompsongunner06,
Sometimes everyone at schools cannot afford to rent a limo. I couldn't as a matter of fact, and I wish they had something like this at my school. But then again I didn't even have a date so a pic of me standing in front of a limo solo would have been kinda silly lol... At any rate though, my point is this. Sometimes people cant afford a limo so a school providing one for students to take pictures in front of seems like a pretty good idea for me. Hell I might even offer mines up for free for picture purposes. Might help get me in with the kids that will be promming next year. The driver probably could have been friendly and moved or asked his boss if he could have moved for a sec, but you probably just pulled up and beeped the horn and started waving your hands or something so he got pissed and just sat there (Correct me if im wrong) What I would have done is pull around him or let my kids out a bit in front or behind him. No big deal. But calling all the other companies is a bit overkill in my book. If he was paid to stay there thats what he was supposed to do. |

We have one,,the only prob was they had a photographer taking pics at the limo in question as the kids where getting out at the runway the school had put up. We plan on talking to the school and ask the people who own a rest or hotel if we can bring in MacD's food and just sit and eat or use the hotel since we cannot afford it anymore and see what they say.

People can really be rude and thoughtless.
If it is going to be a problem, just get your own red carpet runner from MTG. (50 or 60 bucks) We throw them in all out trunks for just such occasions. |
