We have recently added to our fleet a 08 Chevt Tahoe Hybird. Overall it seems that the response has been good. We are the first in our local market to have one permitted for service.
The market in the Florida has not really had the overall demand that say DC or NY have had but we thought we would give it a shot.
What Im wondering is if any one else has a hybird Tahoe? and what there experience has been with the vehicle AND #2 what are everyone's thoughts as far as going and adding a hybird to your fleet?

We are overall impressed with the Tahoe. It is deffinatly a statement for our local market.

Mercedes is coming out with a zero emission hybrid diesel next year that gets 50mpg. It is a crossover that should be very interesting.

I have a client that runs a few Hybrid Camrys, and advertises "Green" and they do very well and the extra cost has been off-set by the fuel savings.

As Sal mentioned though, they have not been around long enough to understand the true cost of ownership. Not only the expense of the battery when one is needed, can you imagine the disposal fee of a battery that size?

The new Volvo is an amazing vehicle if you havent seen or heard about it. I dont know about how well it would do in a livery application but the system is amazing.

One day these cars may be the way to go, but I have my doubts.

I manage a fleet of 55 vehicles at my "other job." We were recently mandated to reduce fuel consumption by at least 10% this year.

Of course Hybrids were quickly suggested, but a bit of research quickly shot that idea down.

The very limited lifespan of the $3700 battery unit was a huge disqualifier; add to that the higher maintenance and repair expenses (after warranty), and higher initial costs, and Hybrids were a no-go.

We simply bought several gas sippers for non-essential personnel to use, and are on track to meet out fuel savings goal and then some. With regard to livery vehicles, I don’t know if the fuel savings and demand for Hybrids can quickly compensate for the additional expense.

Maybe someone could make a go of it advertising to the "Greenies," but I have never received even one request for a Hybrid or fuel efficient vehicle. My clients could care less if it is a huge V8, or a Hybrid, as long as it is clean and gets them from A to B in relative luxury.

I heard 65k is full retail with all options. I have a friend in Atlanta that just purchased one for low 50s.

Does DC have a demand for Hybrids...?

I have only heard of one company here and I am not sure how they are doing
