I want to add an on hold message, so when the customer is on hold on the phone, they can hear all of our specials and what not. Our office phones are RCA not sure of what model at this second, how do you get something like this? Is it a adapter you buy?

First Class- Make it easy on yourself. Call your phone service provider and ask them to send someone out to show you the easiest way to do what you want. There are many ways to tie on hold messages, music, ect. together. They will show you many options.
Either get it from them, or find out what you need an do it yourself. Make it upbeat and positive! Slow, boring music will make people think their on hold longer than they really are! |

The cord actually goes into some type of box that resembles a CPU and is next to the place where all the phone wires come into the building. I don't connect it to a phone set. How are your phones connected together so that line 1-4 can be answered? There must be an incoming point that where the call arrives in your building and then gets dispatched to all the phone sets in your office.
Sorry, I am a little out of my league in how it all works except knowing where my boom box is and where it plugs in. |

The cord from your CD player goes into what port on your phone? We have individual phones that are attached to each other in a way you can pickup line 1, line2, line3, but I'm not sure theyre all connected in this way. ____________________ I offer Search engine SEO services starting at $500/mo. I can't really say about the phone system itself and the technical part of it. Do you have a business phone system? Like a box that all the phones tie into? There are not too many systems made for business that don't have a jack right on the box marked Music On Hold or Auxillary Input.
We have a basic boom box that has a CD running on repeat. It has a cord that is plugged into the headphone jack on the boom box and then the other end of the plug goes into the phone box. Our phone system has 16 phones plugged into it so maybe it is only on big systems. You don't need to explain the reason for needing on-hold information and music. Obviously Black Tie either didn't read your post correctly or he is a one man show with very little business. It is impossible to be in this business without having to place people on hold - I don't care who you are. People have invoice questions, you need to get the invoice. People can't find their chauffeur at the airport, you need to call the chauffeur and the list goes on and on. |

We are talking about after the phone is answered and they are put on hold for a certain reason: a custom quote, they need an answer about a specific question that might take a minute to get an answer, theyre asking to see if they can get a deal , they want somebody to check if something was left in a limo, anything. We get around 100 calls a day and alot more in the busy season, even with several secretaries answering phones, every company at times has to put people on hold. An on hold message makes their on hold time less aggravating, and they can hear about specials and company information, learn more about the vehicles while theyre on hold, instead of twiddle their thumbs and get mad. ____________________ I offer Search engine SEO services starting at $500/mo. This is what is wrong with the industry. Give exceptional guest service. Answer the phone by the second ring.

Ok we have RCA business phones in 3 offices, model # 25404RE3. But I'm sure alot of other people are interested in doing this to their phones. Do we have to get something like this http://www.neobits.com/ohp_6000_digital_on-hold_music_player_p8239.html which is an adapter but its $200 and it looks like it would run only 1 phone, would we have to buy something like this for each phone? Anybody else have a more cost effective solution? Also theres a video on this page http://www.easyonhold.com/adapters.php?brand=RCA&model=25404 which explains alot. Anybody have ideas?

Wait a minute. No one likes to be left on hold. But, you can make on hold experiences enjoyable and informational at the same time.
You can run a CD with a long record time and various information and music so that a client can be entertained and the wait time will seem shorter. Do it like this: Announcer: No one likes being placed on hold and we plan to be back on the line just as quick as possible. Did you know that Limousine Scene began in 1990 with a single car and four employees. Today, we operate 34 vehicles and employ 62 people. Play one song Announcer: While you are waiting, let me tell you about our Wine Tours. Our ten hour wine tour includes stops at some of California's most popular wineries. Whether you have a group of 50 or a group of five, we have a rate for you. Ask your reservationist for more details. Play another song Announcer: Did you know that a ding-bat is not just a ditzy person but the true meaning of the word is actual a type of font that can be printed. play another song Continue you this process for one hour. The person on hold in theory will never hear the same thing twice, will be informed of specials, provided with tid-bits of information about your company and enjoy good music or even jokes while on hold. |

Yea I just want to create our own on hold message. Its much better than listening to nothing while the client is on hold.

I made my own message, but I know of some that played their radion advertisement in a loop for the on hold time. Either way, no one really likes to listen to the on hold stuff. I know I don't. But then again I hate automated services even more.
The number 1 on my phone is wearing out!! |

You first need to find out if you phone system will allow you to accept music on hold. Then you buy a little box that plugs into yor phone system. Then you have a tape made up with any company you choose. Im sure you can google it and find someone. Its preety easy we have one here.
