I have a client who wants me to meet him in Vegas and pick up friends/ family from McCarran Airport. I have all the TCP and I'm legal in California. What are the steps I need to complete to go into vegas and operate for him only legally?

I had no idea the client had asked him to go to the airport in Vegas. That was not a part of the original order. I guess that goes to show you, somethings that go on in Vegas just can't stay in Vegas. I certainly would have never expected the chauffeur to pay that ticket but I did expect the chauffeur to use his noggin'. If he knows he needs a permit at LAX, BUR, LGB, ONT etc., why would he think another major airport would not. Why not call the office and have them check OR call LAS and ask BEFORE just waltzing in with a giant billboard van? That was dumb from a (then) 10 year vet. He is still here 17 years later. I had no problem paying the bill. I'll pay parking tickets too with a plausible explanation.

Okay, I am going to tell you from a "been there done that" version. First of all, assuming you have Federal DOT authority, you CAN go to Las Vegas. Your trip must ORIGINATE from a California location. If not, you are TRANSACTING business in Nevada/Las Vegas for which you are not licensed to do. If you pickup in California and deliver to a casino in Vegas, you may pick your passengers up at the casino for the return trip home which is a continuation of their original trip. You cannot legally provide any type of service in Vegas. I know people do it anyway but you are not supposed to.
Okay, so one trip, we are in Vegas and our client who we brought from California directs us to go to the Vegas airport to pickup arriving guests. We are in one of our 15 passengers vans. It is clearly marked per DOT requirements. We did not have our vehicle impounded but we did receive a $250 citation and a prompt escort out of the airport without ever making contact with the arriving passenger. The client didn't want to pay the citation as he said he didn't know. Why would he? He's not in the business. The chauffeur didn't want to pay the $250 ticket even though it was issued to him by name. Guess who got stuck paying the ticket? Farm it out! |

So, HS Town Car, is there a way to have someone else pick them up at the airport and then make a transfer at the state line??
May be best to farm it out to a local to handle. Sounds like a lot of BS for one client. |

We use this company to get a temporary trip pass when we take people to vegas but I am not sure on the regulations of picking someone up in vegas and even more regulation is driving a CA limo into the airport in Vegas, you are now talking about 3 layers of regulatory red tape there!
Comdata regulatory compliance services 1-800-749-6058 https://www.iconnectdata.com And while you have a TCP do you also have a CA# Thats the one you need to do work across state lines, I believe, someone set me straight here. Yea I am with Hartson, Farm it! |

I will be blunt! YOU CAN'T! If the Transportation Services Authority (TSA) of Nevada find you doing this, they will!!!! inpound your car and fine you alot!!!! The money is not worth it. Their is no way around it. The TSA will find you. The TSA does not issue out of state permits to work this town. The only way an operator can transport people in Las Vegas or where ever in Nevada is by bringing in your passengers in your vehicle from out of state. Names of all passengers must be on the manifest. Any one that is not on the manifest that is in your car and the TSA pulls you over, they will take your car. As far as picking up passengers at the airport, the TSA and the Airport police is looking for this kind of stuff all the time. They are there at all times! If you need help with finding a great driver and a good company, I can help you. It is just not worth getting in trouble with the TSA.
