You can obtain a MC # (Motor Carrier #) at the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov). You need to obtain a MC# because you are a “For Hire” carrier and transport passengers or arrange for their transport interstate (in some states for intrastate as well). You can apply for this online (That’s what our company did), and it’s very easy & self explanatory.
Straight from the FMCSA website –
