I just returned from hosting the first of several scheduled political candidate forums.
Being the first ever for me, I found it to be a great experience to press flesh and meet the individuals who will be representing myself and the community I reside in. Also was good to finally look into the eyes of one candidate (current office holder) who I have been communicating with about making changes to intrastate transportation laws. What was discouraging was the lack of attendees. There has been up to triple digit home insurance hikes over the last 2 years & property values/taxes have soared coupled with all the other hikes there are some serious financial problems hitting the citizens. Yet, few showed to get face to face with those who can make a difference. And as relayed by the candidates, typical of such forums. Sooner or later citizens are going to have to stop blaming the politicos & start looking in the mirror for where the blame should be placed. We will have the government that we deserve. Michael I am afraid real democracy is over in this country. When the free-loaders get enough clout to vote themselves pay raises at the expense of hard working taxpayers it is over. You can see it happening now with lots of democrats pushing regulations so voters don't even have to show positive identification. You know what they are after. Wade Randolph |

Like my County Commissioner told me once, "this county is run by thoes who show up." I found that to be true. Thoes who show up for the commission meetings run the show. Thoes who stay home, deserve what they get.

Here in AZ there are dozens of Propositions on the ballet including one UNBELIEVABLE PROP which totally reflects the APATHY. Shameful, a majority here don't even read the propositions to learn who is promoting what.
Proposition 200 is a referendum to AWARD ONE LUCKY VOTER $1,000,000! Yes, thats right. They are turning the AZ Voter process into a semi-lottery. This disgusts me that our state finds it necessary to entice people to vote with the dangling carrot of 1 million dollars. Even more disturbing is the type of people who will show up at the polls with this type of motivation: The uneducated looking for a free government ride in the form of higher welfare payments, taxes, etc ... dare I say which political party this favors? Whadya think Wade? This message has been edited. Last edited by: Viperion Corporation / Limos.com, |
