Anyone ever take the clear plexiglass of top of disco floor or ceiling apart, you know, the one's the popular coachbuilder's are using today? Look's like the technique/pattern's are consistent with coachbuilder's. Are they buying them already made? Next project involve's making a few of these. Any idea's?

Carpet floor is built up so when you cover it with carpet - it looks flush. I have another car with disco floor where they used a piece of metal from Home depot. Sort of like the one you use for threshold or when the carpet floor meets wood floor. You probably know what I mean.

2 big problems - people spill drinks on it and it may cause a short if you dont insulate it right and people will scratch it badly.

I suggest you put the LEDs into a clear tube to protect them. Last thing you need in your limo is a short causing a fire.

That was great info!! Thank's. So this can be costly if not done right since there is no room for error when cutting plexi or acrylic, but sound's easy, is there something at the end like a piece of wood cut into a wedge shape covered with carpet to prevent people from tripping on end near door's?

Thank's ... Sound's like a plan. Plywood...wow wouldn't let's say a spilled beer get caught into the plywood after traveling through carpet? Or is it wrapped with vinyl? Also, is that expensive stuff acrylic? If so, how thick should it be? 1/2", 3/4", etc?

Well, I seen it done many times. First, they put the plywood on the floor and screw it in. Then they put a reflective tape (if clear plexi is used) or they just paint the clear plexi with white paint to make it frosted. Unless they have already frosted plexi.

It order to get those diamond cut design, they take a roto tool and just cut out lines in any design.

If you want a particular design, you have to just spray the pattern with (black paint) or just use the white vinyl tape and stick on the bottom part of the plexi.

To make the floor light up, they use a strip of LEDs from MTG or RNC systems (I prefer RNC over MTG). MTG controller SUCKS. Really bad touch pad design. They put that on one side or both sides of the plexi. Then they water seal it all.

If I were you, I would not put a plexi on the bottom of the floor because people will scratch the hell out of the floor in a week. We personally buy the clear carpet cover (FLAT ONE) from Home Depot to protect the floor.

There is a product out there that you apply on top of plexi but its really expensive. $15/sq. ft.
