One would think giving thanks better done thanksgiving, but thats just not my holiday. I am sitting at my desk today reflecting on the roads I have traveled during my life and how I got here. I will not bore you all with those tells of false starts and wrong truns. I just want to publicly say thank you to my God for all that he has provided. I thank my God for forgiving my will when I would not heed his.

Well here it is Christmas Eve. Not been a great year for me business wise but other than that I really do have a lot to be thankful for. Still have good health, a roof over my Head, more than enough to eat, a reasonably good job (for the area) I guess it could be a lot worse.

As a school Bus Driver in a low income school Dist. I see a lot. I see Kids getting on the Bus with no Jackets on cold mornings. I see kids who see me as the only friendly Face they have seen all night because Mom and Dad (or Boyfriend in most cases) had been fighting all night. I see Kids where the only decent meal they get is what they get at school.

Too many of us in this business are just so wraped up in ourselves or as Gunny said, "the Pinky in the air Crowd" that we have no idea just how bad some people have it. We deal with the "Haves" I deal with a lot of "Have nots" perhaps that may be why I view this business in a different light than a lot of you.

Just some thoughts for the Christmas Season. I am truly Blessed.

Take a moment and reread these timeless words by Margaret Fishback Powers: "One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord. Across the sky flashed scenes from my life. For each scene I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand. One belonged to me and other to the Lord. When the last scene of my life flashed before me, I looked back at the footprints in the sand. I noticed that many times along the path there was only one set of footprints. I also noticed that it happened at the lowest times in my life. This really bothered me and I questioned the Lord about it. 'Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you, you would walk with me all the way. But I notice that during the worst times in my life there was only one set of footprints. I don't understand why in times when I needed you most, you should leave me.' The Lord replied, 'My child, I love you and would never leave you during your times of trial and suffering. When you saw only one set of footprints...they were mine. It was then that I carried you!'"

Need reassurance? "The Lord, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not" (Dt 31:8). Need more reassurance? "For he hath said, I will never leave thee nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, the Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me" (Heb 13:5-6). Today you're not alone - God is with you!

Wow - nice post compared to the day-to-day grind we usually read here. Wade, you knnow what a difficult year this has been for me. I lost my best friend in February (I continue to tend bar at his bar to keep it going). I lost my son in April. I never really thought I could make it through the death of one of our children when just imagined. I will tell you The Lord has filled me with the strength I needed to carry on and it is He that eases my pain when I dwell on it. It is He who guided me to building a successful empire with sales that are up 30% this year and I NEVER forget where my good fortune comes from. I suppose the bad times delivered are meant to humble me, give me wisdom and make me wiser - as much as those lessons might sting. This Christmas is difficult to say the least knowing my table will be missing one. Merry Christmas to all and remember to keep Christ in Christmas and scrap Happy Holidays for it is His birthday we are celebrating.

Shad very well said. What humbles me is to think what he was doing here as his last few hours of his earthly life. He was washing others feet. Just contrast this to the ME world we live in now. His beauty cannot be described by our words.
