Funny you should mention that... the photo I attached was an old one that was taken by the original owner of the car before I bought it. This car was originally a private coach owned by a lawyer in Detroit (that's 'Detroit') who had some issues with DUI so he just bought himself a limo and hired a driver.

I have since replaced that set of tires and mounted the new ones blackwall out (you know, the California way).

So ha!

First. I have spacers on my 2001 72" Stretch with 2005 wheels and it really makes the car!

Second. If you still have the standard (older) wheel as your spare, make sure to keep a thin-wall, deep socket that fits your lugs attached (use a zip tie) to the spare. When your roadside service provider show up and wants to install your original spare, he has to remove the spacer first, and often the factory lug wrench (as you noticed) may not fit inside the spacer to remove it.

Last. I purchased a set of rims exactly like yours for my white 120, but was concerned about their weight rating. They do not look anywhere near as sturdy as the older wheels and ultimately I decided not to use them on my 120. Your thoughts?

Besides looking for advice, my point was that I agree with you guys in upgrading rims, grills, tires, etc...

My Excursion next to a stock one is a world apart. It's a lot bigger with the suspension/body lift, torsion bar, and large tires. I just put the new Helo chrome rims on with 2" billet spacers. They made my turning radius worse, but look great. I've got the euro signals, and bilklet grill and air bags for comfort. I upgraded the whole stereo system and basically just need to replace the old TV's(they still work great) to 17" LCD's.

Because it seats 25 legally, I can sometimes charge more per hour than brand new SUV limo's.

Until I'm rich enough to waste money on a new model, I think my workhorse is doing fine.

Start another post with inside pic's of listed stuff I did on this limo when bored one weekend last month?

Some may question all the upgrades on an older car, but I do the same thing because I have a small fleet, and a good number of repeat customers. I can’t afford to buy new cars every year, yet.

A small upgrade, like better or larger flat screens, some new lighting, or just a facelift like those wheels does get noticed, ok not always, but enough to make it nicer for regular clients who don't feel like the exact same car shows up every time.

A relatively small investment can be well worth it, heck at least it is tax deductable.

I'm in the same boat and totally agree. I have a 2001 Excursion, but I've put so many upgrades into it that a lot of clients think it's new and even some of my more educated clients like it better than the new Hummer's. I'm at the point where I almost want to buy a barely used Hummer(07 or 08), but I would rather throw some more money into my Excursion by replacing the carpet with hardwood floor and putting some really comfortable new leather on the seats. My friend with a bigger company swears that the Hummer will make me a lot more money, even though it will be in the shop all the time.

I like the OEM rims on that car better. Sorrey. 17 inch. rims look more modern and may handle cornering better. 15 inch rims have more tire cushion = softer ride. I think the over all diameter is almost equal, other wise distance between tire and wheel well would look funny.
Just my opinion.

First, the deal was too good to pass up since I plan on selling this soon which also help's get a buyer's attention, hell, it got your attention Smile ...lol, second, the handling is greatly improved, especially on turn's/cornering, from a 15" original to 17", the whole limo is riding an extra 2" higher, and third, It never crossed my mind when buying/changing rim's if passenger's could tell, I am sure they WON'T be able to tell diff. but it's going to the auction block soon and anyone looking to buy can tell after one ride, that's all that matter's to me... Smile

Nice upgrade for a small investment. Definately something a buyer will like.

I've always been scared of running spacers on a heavy car with clients riding inside... I've seen too many problems and wheels break lugs doing it. I have a friend with a 175" with 2" spacers and he says he is constantly re-tightening them because they tend to work loose on their own, not worth the safety factor to me.

BTW... wanna make it look really nice?? Invest in a new set of headlights and get those hazy ones off of that car. Smile

Looks nice, really upgrades the older body style.

What do you have cooking on the black one parked behind it?
