Yeah, I wrote "speling" on purpose. There has been a proliferation of people joining the forum puting little slogans or tag lines beneath their name that appear on every post with misspelled words.

To me, it is a sad situation that so many operators are out there conducting business with obviously well educated, well heeled clients that use luxury transportation services and I cringe to imagine what their paperwork looks like. I guess clients probably don't care if you spell rejoice as "rejoyce" or imitated as "immitated" not to mention posts about "bar removel" instead of "bar removal".

Is it just me, or does no one really have any pride in what they put in print anymore? Do people not realize that what you put in writing is a reflection of yourself?

Have a great weekend everyone. Or should I sey, have a gret weeknd evryone.

Being a certified sales instructor, I am reminded of one particular training session. It was a story of a major corporation, the top salesman & the stuffy's.

This particular salesman would send letters back to the CEO reports highlighting his road trips, sales calls & sales closings. The CEO would post these reports on a bulletin board & the stuffy's would stand around poking fun at all of the typeo's & misspelled wording.

One day a letter handwritten by the CEO was posted exclaiming the sales production of this hustler which was 10 times that of the nearest salesperson. The letter contained numerous mispelled words. The CEO's letter ended with him advising the bottom feeders by name that they were "fried".

Without doubt to project business professionalism, all correspondence must be accurate and proper. That's why they invented secretaries.

For those who don't know what the NYPD ESU is, it's NYPD's Special Forces. Mac made it to the ESU Academy 6 months on the job. Our law enforcement guys will validate that this is phenomenal.

Spelling is over rated

I keep a dictionary by my desk. Bad spelling shows a lack of class in my book.

Holy smoke Batman. I can't believe this topic flew like this. The funny thing is, I just said, verbally to my wife, "BRB, I am going to check my e-mail". BRB = Be Right Back.

I will acknowledge several things here. First, I wasn't bored Gunny. I just happen to read yet another "tag line" which if it isn't annoying enough to have such nonsense to spell something wrong like "immatated". First thought at that moment, why in the world would anyone want to imitate someone who obviously can't spell and doesn't care enough to look up the word or spell check it but yet attach it to his name? I mean, really?

Secondly, I have brought it up before Jess because it continues to grate on my nerves. I suppose that comes from being a writer. Not only do I write for LCT but I write for our local newspaper and three other local or regional publications. My work must be ready to go to print when submitted. But even in my "day job" I believe that everything I send out is representation of ME and/or my company.

I don't care how fast the world is moving, there is no excuse for sloppy proposals, business letters etc.

While the forum may be somewhat relaxed, it is still, as Tony pointed out a business forum for people in the same business to share ideas, opinions, tips, tricks etc. and I think people should have little pride in how they are represented here.

I try to read my stuff over before I hit the "post" button. I know I have made typos myself. However, that can be specifically blamed on Gunny when that happens. Sometimes he rubs Big Dawg's hair backward and my fingers are just flying across the keyboard to provide a rebuttal as if he is sitting there at the computer waiting for my comeback. Or is that come back? Not really sure.

In closing, I must say I am LOL on the number of responses my little comment recieved. Oh, wait, the little rule, I before E except after C so it would be received. Some of the responses made me LMAO. Now, I am going 2 the store so BBL to read more.......

I feel so much better that I am not alone.
