This guy filed a complaint in 8th District Court in Las Vegas saying that the conspiracy between the limo companies, their drivers and hotels and doormen has interfered with his business as a taxi driver.

I believe limos services rate are competitive now with taxi rates. It seems that limos become an alternative for cabs. This sure suggests tough competition between cab drivers and limo rental company owners.

Doormen in this town have become extortionists anyway. Back in the day they would be as happy as pig in **it when you gave them a lousy $5.00 for a load. Today they lay down the law. You take care of them with $20’s or you get nothing. God help you if you are given a run to a local gentlemen’s club. That’s where you have the possibility for making some money. But the door men know this and they want half up front. It’s unbelievable. Try going back to the doorman and say hey, those people were comp in the club that door man will kick you off property and tell you never come back. Like you’re taking him for a fool. Lot of people don’t know that it actually is a law that drivers are not allowed to accept these kickback / diversion pays.

NAC 706.552 Drivers: Prohibited and required acts. (NRS 706.8818, 706.8849) Not accept, directly or indirectly, a gratuity or any form of compensation from any person for diverting or attempting to divert a prospective customer from any commercial establishment

The glory days of being a chauffeur in Vegas are not as glorious anymore.

In Vegas if I ask for a cab I am often offered a limo for a few dollars more.

As long as the cabe has this on camera - he has a good chance.

I think we have to sue our local Taxi authority for herasement during the prom season. I would love if someone did that in NY. Authority is making a commission on each towed car by sending another company's car. It would be hard to prove but there is plenty of witnesses.

On the subject of lawsuits:

Super Shuttle Sued By Drivers

This case could get interesting if it is found that the drivers are locked into only servicing SS clients & therefore they are employees & not considered IC's.

Not that I back the taxicab lobby, but over-regulation hurts everyone.

I don't think that guy will get too far against a well-funded defense team.

I'm with you.

Looks like he's going pro se & will have some powerful defense to try to get through.

Would be interesting to see how the courts would rule on this as taxicab laws are business protection laws that inhibit free enterprise.
