I am trying to figure out the pro's and con's of using a coachbuilder versus buying a already built car.

I know for sure if I do buy I am not going to buy anything older then 2007. I am also considering leasing for a 3 year term and then by a fresh pair of wheels.

How do I know who is a good coachbuilder if I go that route. Provided you are not a builder can you recommend companies.

While some may fuss about the lack of options available in the Big Three coach maker they do have some very solid experience and quality in the industry and the QVM vehicles I own three of them are generally very solid ad well built.

Over the years I have seen alot of folks cry over using smaller companies to build their limousines due mostly to the lack of follow up and service.

I know there are some very good builders out there who are Not QVM coach bulders. QVM builders all agree to a certain standard for instance cant get a QVM vehicle above a 165 Inch stretch. I wanted to get a 180 or 200 stretch and the QVM Certified builders wont build them or if they will build them for you they wont stand behind the work.

Exampe: i purchased a Hummer 165 stretch from ECB executive Coach Builders BUT hummer dropped the warrentee because it was stretched. While the coach builder stood behind the stretch they would not stand behind the engine or transmission components. I had to purchase a third party coverage to cover that and thankfully there are several companies who will write such a policy.

I like the QVM vehicles.

ECB, Tiffany, De Brian are all very good builders the major difference is price and usual packages to chose from.

I went with ECB for all mine but the others are very good as well just more expensive for the same basic vehicle from my experience with them all when I was in the market to purchase.

If you are on the east coast, its probably easiest to build it with a coachbuilder on the east cosast. There is plenty of the all over US. Just grab latest Limo Digest and you will find a lot of them. Non QVM coachbuilders tend to be cheaper and they can customize a lot of toys in your car. QVM coachbuilder make more of a cookie-cutter type of cars.

Hey limobill,

I was gonna reply earlier to find out why you were you so sour against me. But then I read some of your other post and figured thats just how you talk.

No problem. Most of what you say is true. Even checking oil. But I intend to learn that and eventually be big enough so someone else can bother with that.

The forum is great and though not a one stop shop...very close. I mean at the end of the day what better place to get the right information from other then experts in the business. Don't worry..I am using other sources to ensure a successful venture.

One thing I learnt in my experiences till now personally and professionally. NO QUESTION IS STUPID. I pretty much do not give thought to the questions that come up. They come up in my mind and instead of me making a false assumption BAM I shoot them here to see what the experts think about it. Wouldn't you. I could very well get that information off the net by searching. But why spend 60 minutes of my time when I get answers in a few minutes here. Time Management.

I know I realize how helpful people are here. Hope you do. And hope to prove you wrong.

Peace.

Till my next "stupid" question.

( NOT !!! ) Do you even give any thought to the stupid open ended questions you ask on this fourm ? I don't think you have the ability to check your oil. This is a think on your feet and anaylize your own demographics business. You seem to think this fourm is your one stop shop to success in the limo business. Based on the blogs of yours I've read on this fourm I really doubt you have what it takes. Prove me wrong.

I would say that when you buy already built car - its a cookie cutter. Monthly payment for such car is pretty high.

If you take your small car and take it to the coachbuilder to build it, you can customize anything you like in it, and you keep your monthly payment low.

If you lease, go with new/why bother leasing someone else's used limo. If your going to buy, buy used, save a lot of $$$$.
One of my fav's, located in the midwest. Very unique "limosuites", financing, and you can bring any vehicle for them to stretch. Franchise/license opportunities - click "open a branch" on website hoempage for more info.
