A couple of my friends and I just purchased a limo. The primary purpose for getting this vehicle is for tailgating at Cleveland Browns football games. We are going to paint it orange with the striping to match their helmets. We have thought about maybe trying to rent it out a few times a year to cover our own expenses.

My questions are as follows:
Are there many specialty painted limos like this (not specific to th Browns, but other sports teams or other themes) out there?
Do you think there is a market out there for specialty paint jobs?
Will Insurance prices make renting it out on a very limited basis cost prohibitive?
If you owned a Limo Company and were offered a vehicle like this on an as needed basis would you be interested in adding it to your fleet line-up?

Thanks for any advice you are able to offer. Maybe it will become a business, who knows.

Also one big thing to consider. There is a big difference between using a possibly legally protected image for the personal use and using it for commercial use for making money: Personal use, the people owning the rights usually won't go after much, they think you are making money off of what they marketed, watch out!

Even if you don't consider it as making money, becasue you are just "offsetting costs", that is income from the use.

Now, that being said, the Cleveland Browns helmet isn't too decorative, so you could argue "well it is just a color choice", but guarantee that if legal matters did arise, any competent lawyer could prove that you're intentionally trying to mimic them. (ie. find your post on here saying that was your intentions).

Lastly, just curious, would you use this limo to drive a group of friends over to Pittsburgh when they are playing there?

The licensing, insurance and regulations involved in running a limousine for-hire would likely make the venture prohibitive.

As for using the car "as needed" you will need to check you local laws. In many areas, a for-hire limousine must be owned or leased to a bona-fide business, must bear for-hire tags, commercial insurance, and must be added to the carrier's vehicle or power unit list with the local licensing authority, and the USDOT if the carrier works interstate.
